Noodles on a Bicycle
by Gracey Zhang
Picture book · ages 3–7 · 350L · 2024
A gleefully absurd picture book that rewards the illogic—noodles, a bicycle, and escalating chaos—with no moral, just visual silliness and repetition that makes toddlers giggle.
Book of Nursery and Mother Goose Rhymes
by Marguerite de Angeli
Picture book · ages 3–7 · 1970
De Angeli's illustrations are warm and period-detailed without being cloying; this is the read-aloud collection that actually works across the 3–7 span because the rhymes carry kids who can't read yet and entertain those who can.
Father Fox's Pennyrhymes
by Clyde Watson
Picture book · ages 3–7 · 300L · 1971
Pure phonetic joy wrapped in Caldecott-caliber illustrations—not a story but a read-aloud playground for kids who like their language nonsensical and rhythmic.
