Interrupting Chicken
by David Ezra Stein
Picture book · ages 3–7 · 420L · 2010
The funniest picture book for the 4–6 set — kids beg to read it repeatedly, and the meta-commentary on storytelling structure holds parents' attention too.
Juan Bobo Goes to Work
by Joe Cepeda
Picture book · ages 4–8 · 450L
A genuinely funny folk-tale adaptation that leans hard into absurdist misunderstanding; Cepeda's illustrations carry the comedy, and the Puerto Rican setting feels lived-in, not performative.
Ella Sarah Gets Dressed
by Margaret Chodos-Irvine
Picture book · ages 3–7 · 420L · 2003
A short, laugh-out-loud celebration of a young kid's right to look ridiculous—Chodos-Irvine's spot-on illustrations make the clashing prints funnier each reread.
